As Al Gore once referenced: "Junkies find veins in their toes when the ones in their arms and legs collapse, developing tar sands and coal shale is the equivalent." I thought this quote was a good metaphor for how oil companies continue to exploit the earths oil. Humans seem dedicated to sucking up all of Earths oil and burning it into the atmosphere as fast as possible. The Earth is not what is vulnerable here, what is however is Earths atmosphere. A layer of paint on a basketball is about the same thickness as the atmosphere is on the Earth. That is how thin our atmosphere is and without an atmosphere so much of the life on Earth would not be able to exist.
There is a unanimous agreement among the scientific community that our polar caps are shrinking at a rate never seen before and that our global temperature is rising. Scientists are saying if these trends don't change soon irreversible damage could be done. We have the capability to make great changes toward providing a more sustainable source of energy. Solar panels have been popping up more in areas that catch a lot of sunlight. There are no real disadvantages to becoming more solar energy dependent. Whenever you have an oil spill it is a catastrophe, but when there is a solar energy spill all you have is a sunny day.

 Ninth Blog
Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm Germany. He was the man who developed the E=mc^2 formula. Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared, what does that mean? I imagine that I am standing on a rock that is moving at the speed of light through space, while standing on the speeding rock I shine a flashlight out in front of me. The light particles coming out of my flashlight would be multiplied by the speed of light, which I am already moving at. So what would that have to do with the rest of Einsteins formula? I have no clue, I am simply trying to understand some of what Einstein might have been thinking.

Einstein was very famous and is widely acclaimed of being a genius physicist. What i like about Einstein are his quotes such as "the true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination" and "look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better". Ive found Einsteins wisdom to be very interesting and i feel that he could see the world in a different way than most others. His contributions will continue to inspire and provoke thought in many people for years to come.
